Crazy enough, I remember when Super Mario Brothers first came out on the original Nintendo system. Because I loved this game so much, I followed Nintendo's newest games and systems.
One of the reasons why I enjoy Mario Kart is the fact that I get to play with familiar characters, but with much better technology and graphics. I thought it was so fun to play against my friends on the multi-player maps.
If you are a Mario Brothers fan, you will be familiar with Mario Kart's characters: Mario, Luigi, Wario, Bowser, Princess Toadstool, along with others.
The Mario Kart characters race in go-karts. It sounds really simple, right? It is so fun though.
Each go-cart has its own racing capabilities and style. And my favorite aspect of all of this is the chance to compete.
Most modes have the ability to have at least 4 people play. This game carried on to the next couple of game systems, including Nintendo 64 and the Gamecube. Some versions of the game are also available for Gameboys.
When Mario Kart became available on Wii, I thought I died and had gone to heaven. For some, it may be pretty surprising to see that this game has been so popular for so many years. For me, it is like playing with old friends. It is not surprising at all that Mario and his friends have passed the test of time.
So, as newer technology comes out on the market it is quite fascinating to see younger generations pick up on the love of this game.

Mario Kart for the Nintendo Wii has to be the best Wii game released this year! It has everything that you could possibly imagine in the range of characters, ammunition against rivals and rampant racing tracks with clever secret shortcuts.
When starting out with Mario Kart, you can choose from 8 characters like the adorable Mario himself, Peach or the dastardly Waluigi. As you play further and complete races with trophies, you will be awarded with extra characters like the speedy Daisy and Dry Bowser (a skeletal pirate version of Bowser himself). These characters are faster and more powerful than the originals, so race like a madman!
The greatest part of this game is the fact that you can plug in your Wii remote into the Wii Wheel. The motion sensitivity of the Wii remote is great when plugged into the wheel, and you get more of a sense of actually driving rather than just pressing a few buttons on a dull stick remote! I have a lot of fun trying to bump and bash my opponents off the track and into either lava or the deep sea.
However, to help those of you are not as brutal as me, there are loads of cool objects that you can collect along the way to either use against your opponents or to speed yourself up. You collect the objects by driving in to the question mark boxes that you'll find easily along each track.
If you collect the 'Bullet Bill', you will be transformed into a Bullet temporarily that will go through the course at high speed knocking down anything in its path.
If you collect 'Banana Skins' then you can drop them behind you or throw them in front of you to make the other drivers slip up! this is really fun to watch!
The worst (or best) object is the 'Spiny Shell' or otherwise known by us as the Blue Shell of death! This locks onto and chases after the lead vehicle, then blows up when it reaches its target. Any vehicle in the caught in the blast will be flipped over or spun around! There is no defence to it, but luckily they don't come along too often.
I will let you in on a little secret. When you are at the starting line, press the acceleration button down when the number 2 starts to fade and you will be sure to get a kick start to the race.
And watch out for those shortcuts. The best way to find them is to drive through a track and explore. You never know what you might find! But for now, try this. At the end of Maple Treeway, drive up the ramp at the side of the tree (either the left or right tree) and get a speed boost over the ramp to the finish line.

It is a deeply integrated with online players, and it's easy to get right into for players who are at a beginner on up to advanced level. Mario Kart Wii is a fun, strategic system that has added two wheel vehicles to the mix.
You might be surprised with some of the additions to this already wildly popular game. These include motorcycles and dirt bikes. Despite those who long for the pure weapons-based go-kart racing of before, you will be pleasantly surprised with the inclusion of two wheeled vehicles.
In addition, there is now a midair stunt system as well as motion controls. In spite of these additions, the part that made Mario Kart Wii and all other Mario racing games so popular remains and it's just an improvement on an already killer system.

This could be considered a flaw, but it does inject a ton of fun and a totally new strategy into the game.
Mario Kart Wii comes standard with a number of items that most gamers would expect
Starmen, mushrooms, fake item boxes, shells and the like.
There are new items like the thunder cloud, an item that will shrink you automatically after a few seconds unless you ram someone and pass it off to them.
There is also the POW, a block that will temporarily stun everyone in front of you and cause them to drop their items.
The mega mushroom will make you increase your size for a period of time and flatten racers beneath your super-sized tires.
Mario Kart Wii has support for just about every controller configuration there is on the market today. The game comes with a steering wheel controller shell that gives you complete advantage of the motion-sensing capabilities and it's considered that the purely tilt-driven control is the best. The Super Mario Brothers game hit the market back in 1992.
In the last 16 years, it has seen its share of changes. With Mario Kart Wii is a brand-new stunt system, there are some speed bumps on the road; however, on the whole, it is still one of the best, most fun experiences out there today in the gaming world.

Lego Star Wars the Complete Saga Reviewed For the Wii

Its not often that two of your favorite things from your youth combine together - in this case great child hood memories of playing with Lego and movie memories of the Star Wars Saga.
Lego Stars Wars is a great game for the family to play with the right amount of 'slaughter' of enemies combined with puzzles. If you get too stuck on a level there are a number of walkthrough's available online. Buy the complete saga - as it covers the whole series and generally follows the story lines of the movies with a few extra comedic additions. I found using lasers not as much fun as using the light saber so although you can play most of your favorite star wars characters I mainly stuck with the Jedi. If you carefully block laser shots you can return the shot back to the sender - in fact to defeat Darth Maul you need to block laser shots from his accompanying troops.
You will need both the Wii remote and nunchuck and the game is more fun if you play with two players. Some puzzles require two players working together in a team effort and rather than having to constantly switch between players - play with a friend. You run around defeating opponents, battling end of level super opponents and collecting numerous lego money, gold and hearts.
Apart from the 6 levels following the six movies there are a whole heap of bonus levels, and sub-games. Not every level involves just slicing and dicing through your enemies. There are a number of flying levels - including taking down the AT-ST vehicles with two cables and dragging bombs into your enemies fortifications.
Looking for a game that combines a shoot em up with some intelligence required - then Lego Star Wars the complete Saga is for you.
Lego Star Wars was such a gaming hit that it has spawned a number of other "LEGO" games - including Lego and Indiana Jones, and Lego Batman.

The Best Wii Games of 2008 - Wii Fit & Wii Rock Band

I actually kind of hate video games. I just wanted to get that out of the way so you'll understand where I'm coming from. For the most part I think video games are a total waste of time and I get bored of playing them very quickly. If it's the type of game where all you do is mash your thumbs into a controller for hours on end then you can count me out (just like John Lennon sang in "Revolution," O.K. maybe that was a slightly different context.)
I love music. That explains why I love Wii Rock Band. This is the game for people who love music. Not only can you play the guitar like you can with Guitar Hero you can also sing & play the drums and for me it's the singing and the drumming that is really interesting because it's so much like the real thing (no the guitar playing is nothing like playing a real guitar.)
I don't love exercising but I do like being in shape. The Wii Fit makes exercising fun. I actually look forward to exercising now. Think about what a great thing that is. The Wii Fit is also excellent for people of all ages and for people of all types of fitness levels. I've actually got a 2 year old nephew that loves to play the Wii Fit (he does the running games.) Usually I would think it's a horrible idea to let a 2 year old play a video game, but Wii Fit isn't your normal video game. It's actually a "game" that kids should be encouraged to use.
In my book these are the best two games you can get for your Wii right now. There's a reason they are so hard to find at the local stores, people buy them all as soon as they come in.

I'm not that into video games unless they involve me actually doing something other than pressing buttons with my thumbs. I love Rock Band because I can sing and play the drums (on a semi realistic drum kit.) And I love Wii Fit because it actually makes exercising fun. No seriously, it does!
With Wii Fit you can create a character (and you will be weighed on the "balance board") and that character will be based on your real height and weight. As you do activities your progress will be recorded.
What are the activities? Well there are many to choose from. Everything from running to yoga. There are activities aimed at burning calories and activities aimed at strengthening your body and improving your balance. Certainly you will find some activities to be more enjoyable than others but the good thing is there are many to choose from so you will surely find some that you enjoy (and which of course also improve your fitness.)
One of the cool things about buying the Wii Fit is that it comes with a "balance board" which can also be used with many other very cool Wii games that are now coming out. Most of the other Wii games that use the balance board don't actually include it. You must buy the Wii Fit in order to get this balance board. So even if for some reason this game doesn't click with you (and I think it will) you will still get a valuable piece of equipment that comes with it and can be used with other games.
Again, I'm not a huge video game fan. This is not a standard video game. It's something that can appeal to people of all ages. And it's the rare video game that isn't a waste of your time. In fact I encourage you to "play" your Wii Fit as much as you can every day! Not only will you have a good time, you will also improve your fitness.

Super Mario World - Green, Yellow, Red and Blue Yoshi Abilities Clarified

When playing Super Mario World for Super Nintendo a common question comes up basically every time. What is the purpose of the colored Yoshi's? It has to do with the color of your Yoshi and what color shell it has in it's mouth.
For example: If a Yoshi has a shell in it's mouth it usually gains a special ability. I made a list to clear it up.
A Blue Yoshi plus the following shell equal the resulting abilities
Green Shell = Flying Yoshi Red Shell = Flying Yoshi + Fire Spitting Ability Yellow Shell = Flying Yoshi + Ground Pound Ability Blue or Rainbow Shell = All Abilities Above
A Red Yoshi plus the following equals
Green Shell = Fire Spitting Yellow Shell = Fire Spitting + Ground Pound Ability Blue Shell = Fire Spitting + Flying Yoshi Red Shell or Rainbow Shell = All Abilities
A Yellow Yoshi plus the following equals
Green Shell = Ground Pound Ability Blue Shell = Ground Pound + Flying Yoshi Red Shell = Ground Pound + Fire Spitting Ability Yellow or Rainbow Shell = All Abilities
A Green Yoshi plus the following equals

These abilities make Star World and Star Road a lot easier if you memorize the list. Also whenever Flying Wings appear from a question box and you have a Yoshi it flies away and becomes a Blue Yoshi.
These concepts were later taken from Super Mario World and focused into Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island. Which Nintendo focused on colored Watermelons for abilities. The sequel Super Mario World 2 Yoshi's Island did not focus on special Yoshi Abilities. It was not as popular as Super Mario World (original) but had more defined graphics.

Beat Super Mario World in 12 Stages

First start a new game of Super Mario World. Then from the start go to the right to Yoshi Island #2. The Yoshi Island stages should be a cake walk. Then proceed to Yoshi Island #3. Then Yoshi Island #4. Then beat the first castle (Iggy's). That takes care of the easy part.
Here is when things get a little more complicated. Proceed north from the castle to Donut Plains #1. Make sure you get a cape from one of the Caped Koopas in the beginning. Now Go right before the end of this stage and fly up to reveal a key and secret door.
This will take you to Donut Secrets #1 (underwater stage). Go through the stage until you reach a POW box. Do not hit it yet. Pick it up and carry it until you see a key. Then hit it and proceed to Donut Secret House.
Go normally through Donut Secret House #1 until you reach a room with a circular formation of ghost. Go past them to a platform. Hit the Pow box you find and fly above the platform to reveal a secret door/boss fight. The Big Boo can be defeated by throwing the blocks up at him. Congratulations you reached Star World.
Go through the key exits in Star World #1, #2, #3, and #4. They are all easy to find except the one in Star World #4. This requires the baby red Yoshi at the beginning of the stage. Feed him until he turns into an adult Yoshi then find a blue koopa and eat him without swallowing him. Fly up to find a secret area/key exit.
After Star World #4 take the star exit under it on the map. This will take you to the front door of Bowser's Castle. Complete this last stage and congratulate yourself on beating the game in record time/in 12 stages.
To reiterate the 12 stages are
1.) Yoshi's Island 2 2.) Yoshi's Island 3 3.) Yoshi's Island 4 4.) Iggy's Castle 5.) Donut Plain 1 6.) Donut Secret 1 7.) Donut Secret House 1 8.) Star World 1 9.) Star World 2 10.) Star World 3 11.) Star World 4 12.) Bowser's Castle (front door)

Top Secret Area in Super Mario World

This is the biggest secret in Super Mario World. It is called the "Top Secret Area". I completely missed this the first three times I played Super Mario World. Then out of boredom the fourth time playing Super Mario World I discovered it.
It is very simple to find. First go to Donut Plains #1 and get a cape from one of the Caped Koopas. Then go to Donut Ghost House #1. At the very start of the stage fly up to find a ledge. Follow this to be rewarded with several 1-ups. Then finish the stage and it will open a level called "Top Secret". It isn't actually a level but just a screen like Yoshi's House.
Every time you enter this level you will be rewarded with your choice of two capes or two flowers and a green Yoshi. This makes the game much easier as it is accessible before the second castle. Since it is so unknown for first time players and even veteran players it is very easily missed. It seems too easy to find to be such a unknown secret.
Another reason people often miss this secret is because they look at the World Map and think the Ghost House can't branch off to another path other then straight to the castle or into the lake. The other reason is because you can't get a cape in the levels previous to the Donut Ghost House #1 besides Donut Plains #1 which is two levels before it.
You follow the directions above and pat yourself on the back for finding the Top Secret Area in Super Mario World.

Super Mario - Since the Beginning

Mario is easily one of the most recognizable faces to come out of Nintendo, but did you know his original name was Jumpman? That's right, in 1981 Mario first appeared in Donkey Kong, but then, he went by the name of Jumpman, but Mario was used as his name in some promotional material.
This game surprised Nintendo by its extreme success. To test the popularity of Mario, Nintendo released an arcade game called Marion Bros., which included Mario and his brother Luigi. This game was an immense success for Nintendo. Because of the success of both Donkey Kong and Mario Bros., in 1983, when Nintendo release the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System), they also release Super Mario Bros.
References to his original name appear in a couple of Mario games, such as in Paper Mario: the Thousand-Year Door, when an audience member refers to Mario as Jumpman before a battle, and in Mario Hoops 3-on-3, where his nickname is "The Jumpman."
Mario's look, even to this current day, can be blamed on the limitations that were placed on the programmers and artists back in the early 80s by their current technology.
The programmers couldn't animate Mario's arms when he moved without making them disappear, so they gave him overalls and a solid shirt color.
They also didn't have room for a face or ears, and couldn't animate his hair, so they gave him his mustache, sideburns, and a baseball cap. Shigeru Miyamoto, Mario's creator, has stated in interviews that Mario wears a baseball cap because he finds it difficult to draw hair.
Mario's surname or last name is also Mario, which explains the use of Mario Bros. as game titles, because Luigi is Mario's brother, so they have the same last name. was first used in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, and then again in 1993 in a movie called Super Mario Bros.. Nintendo as a whole has never officially confirmed it, but it was put up on Nintendo of Europe's official Mario Megasite.

It hasn't been until recently, that they've been seen working together in the newly released Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Wii. They will also appear in Super Smash Bros. Brawl together as well.
Mario is a 5 foot tall, portly plumber from Brooklyn, New York who lives in Mushroom Kingdom. He is considered to be the most famous video game character in history, and his series of games has sold over 193 million copies.
Mario has not only appeared in plat formers, but in other genres as well. The other genres include reaching, with Mario Kart, sports games such as Mario Tennis, and RPGs such as Super Mario RPG: The Legend of the Seven Stars.
Although Mario's said occupation is being a plumber, he is almost never seen doing any actual plumbing. With the exceptions being in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and in the original Mario Bros.. Pipes have still remained a mode of transportation, however, although the reason as to why might not be clear. However, in the original Donkey Kong games, Mario, who was still called Jumpman, was actually a carpenter.
Mario has also appeared as a doctor in Dr. Mario. He has even been shown as an archaeologist in the Game Boy game, Mario's Picross.
Mario's favorite pastime seems to be saving Princess Peach, and Mushroom Kingdom. Other ways he spends his time is battling villains, namely Bowser. In the role-playing games, Mario is given a heroic status for saving the Mushroom Kingdom so many times. In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, he and Luigi are called "superstars", which basically means huge celebrities.
Ever since his first appearance in a video game, Mario has been given the role of the hero, destined to save the damsel in distress. In the original Donkey Kong, he had to rescue his girlfriend, Pauline from Donkey Kong. Pauline obviously didn't stay in the series, as she was replaced by Princess Peach, who was originally referred to as "Princess Toadstool" or just "the Princess" in the English releases, in Super Mario Bros.
In 1993, with the release of Yoshi's Safari, Princess Peach was finally used in an English release of a Mario game, but it still wasn't used as widely until the release of Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64, three years later. Pauline has only been seen twice since the original Donkey Kong, once in the remake for the Game Boy, and once in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis, in 2006.
She has since been described as Mario's friend, not girlfriend, as that appears to be Peach's position. Mario has received a kiss from her countless times, after each time he's rescued her, but the true status of their relationship has never been officially revealed, most likely to avoid the problems experienced with Pauline, but there is obviously affection shared between Mario and Peach.
Most of Mario's abilities come from the items that he collects and uses. In the platform games, there is the Super Mushroom, which makes Mario double in size. He is called "Super Mario", when he is in this state, and he also gets an extra hit point.
Other examples of items include the Fire Flower, which turns Mario into Fiery Mario, or just Fire Mario. This allows him to throw fireballs at his enemies. Another item is the star, which makes Mario completely invincible, and allows him to defeat all enemies with a single touch.
In other versions of Mario plat formers, there are other unique items, such as the Raccoon Leaf, and the Cape Feather. The Raccoon Leaf turns Mario into Raccoon Mario, and allows him to fly short distances by whipping his tail around in the air, sort of like Tails from the Sonic the Hedgehog games.
The Cape Feather obviously turns Mario into Cape Mario, which allows him to whip his cape at enemies to attack ,and also allows him to fly. In Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Mario can pick up the Power Carrot, which transforms Mario into Bunny Mario and makes his falling speed reduced.
Obviously, Mario is an extremely popular character, who has been in many games, and has even inspired indie games and online flash games, which get tons of hits and plays because they are free. With the increasing demand for new games, you can look for Mario to keep evolving and testing the waters in new genres as well. The future is still as bright for Mario as it was 20 years ago.

To Burn Wii games or not to ? That's the question. The Wii is increasing in popularity, and as such there is a huge demand for games. Even worse, games are expensive, so what happens if you scratch the disc or something? Read on to find out how to burn Wii games that you can use as a backup.
Okay now before you get into this, it's update yourself on the copyright laws in your area. In most places, it's legal to burn Wii games, as long as you own the original, and that the copies are for your personal use only, IE as backups. This is the most common law, but please check it out in your area all the same - there are no Wiis in jail, so you don't really want to end up there right?
First of all, it's not possible to do any copying or anything with the Wii itself, so you'll need to use your computer, and you will need a specific kind of DVD Drive in order to get it working. You need one of the LG-816 series, most notably 8161b, 8162b or 8163b. Due to the size of the files on a DVD, you will need to wait quite a while for the dump to finish. Once it's finished, you should see a new file in the rawdump folder, an ISO file, with the same name as whatever game you copied. An ISO file is simply a perfect image of what was previously on a disc. You'll get familiar with these files if you intend to burn Wii games as a habit.
The last two parts of the process are probably the simplest thing you need to do when you burn Wii games. First of all, once the dump finishes, right click on the new file and choose Properties. What you are looking for here is the size of the file. ALL Wii game ISOs are 4.7 Gb in size, which is the same size as a blank DVD, so you can see that the image dump has picked up everything. Anything different from this and you will need to begin again, as it's not possible to burn Wii games if the ISOs are the wrong size!
Once you have the right size, all you need to do to perform the actual burning of the Wii games is to get your preferred burning software, start a new project, and instruct it to burn the ISO image onto a brand new blank DVD. This part can be a little finicky, and if you use low quality discs you'll find you have problems with unreadable games etc.
In order to play the Wii games that you burned, you will either need to get your Wii fitted with a modchip, or use one of several SD card modifications. Tutorials for both of these can easily be found on the net.
